FiiO Unveils Upcoming BTR3K Bluetooth DAC-AMP

FiiO’s BTR3 remains to be one of the most popular, compact, and affordable Bluetooth DAC/AMPs available. However, they’ve also just announced in a Head-Fi post that a new BTR3K version will soon become available.

The upcoming upgraded product BTR3K will be released soon! Building off of what made the BTR3 so good, the BTR3K implements balanced output. It is a truly balanced design, with a DAC and amplifier carefully paired for the left and right channels each, for the purest sound possible.

What’s New With The BTR3K?

Judging from the images provided, we can see that the BTR3K first and foremost now includes a 2.5mm balanced output alongside the regular 3.5mm single-ended output. The location of the USB-C port has thus also been shifted to the opposite end of where it was on the original BTR3.Internally, the AK4376A DAC chip has been replaced with a dual DAC chip setup comprised of using two AK4377A DAC chips. This was of course done to give the device a true balanced configuration. With a balanced output we would expect a higher rated power-output, but FiiO have not yet given any indication of how much of an improvement we can see from this change. Likewise, there is also no info given on how this will affect the battery-life, or even if perhaps a larger battery is implemented.The other notable change is that the BTR3K does not have the integrated shirt clip, whereby instead it has a design much more similar to that of the BTR5.

So, as you can see, specific details are still rather scarce, as are details regarding the expected retail price and date of availability from retailers and distributors.
