Apple’s HomePod update brings you many useful new features

Apple’s HomePod was lagging behind Amazon’s Echo and Google Home, smart speakers that feature your own voice assistant that will help you in your everyday life. Even though it did not achieve success as it was expected, the recent HomePod update should make this smart speaker more appealing to the users. Announced during the Apple event on 12th September, the update includes the release of HomePod OS 12 coming very soon.

The HomePod, powered by Apple’s voice assistant Siri, is getting many new functions that you can use, besides getting the standard problem and bug fixes. New OS 12 includes the voice-call support that was anticipated for a while now. Basically, you will be able to make and receive the calls from your HomePod, either by saying the number or asking Siri to recall a number from your contacts and you can even as Siri to check your missed calls.

Talking about music playback, the new HomePod update will also allow you to use Siri to find you any song just by telling it the snippet of lyrics. You will also be able to find your iPhone in case you misplace it with the new Find My iPhone feature. The update also allows you to set more than just one timer for several tasks. Besides all of this, Apple has added more Siri languages, that is Spanish for the US, Mexico and Spain and Canadian French for Canada.

Another pretty big HomePod update is the addition of the Siri Shortcuts that will definitely improve the convenience of using this smart speaker. The way this feature will work is by allowing you to set a certain command that will trigger Siri to perform several tasks at one. For example, you can use it for your morning routine so if you say “Hey Siri, good night”, it will automatically start tasks you connected to that command, such as turning off lights in your bedroom, going with you through tasks set for the day coming, etc.

The HomePod update is coming on 17th September when the new iOS 12 will be made for iPhones, iPads and, of course, HomePod.
