iBasso Introduces Upcoming AMO5 IEM
Whilst iBasso is better known for their music players such as the flagship DX220 and more value-focused DX160 , they do have a number of IEMs in their portfolio, including the IT04. However, thus far, all of their IEMs have featured either a dynamic driver, or have been of a hybrid design. Their latest addition, the AMO5, on the other hand, is based entirely around a multi-BA driver setup.
The AMO5
The AMO5, as the name suggests, features a multi-BA driver configuration which is comprised of no less than 5 Knowles balanced-armatures. But, iBasso have got another trick up their sleeve because the 4-way crossover network is apparently also used to create a stereo surround sound effect which, according to iBasso at least, “deliver an immersive experience through the high-fidelity cinematic and musical sound reproduction “ .
Judging from the spectacular images, the AMO5 almost looks like a custom-fit IEM, but it is in fact of a universal design. What is partly responsible for the seemingly immaculate design is that each earpiece is individually hand-polished.
The MMCX connectors too have undergone a special treatment as these feature thicker gold-plating than usual, which should ensure a better connection as well as a longer service-life.
Pricing and Availability
Official pricing for the AMO5 has been stated to be ¥ 1899, which roughly equates to $ 269, and they should get shipped out to buyers in Early November. Oddly enough, there doesn’t seem to be any mention of the AMO5 on iBasso’s website yet. Instead, for those wanting to get in early to order the AMO5, you can do so via the HiFiGO website which is accepting orders for the AMO5 at a price of $299.99
