IER-Z1R headphones join Sony’s gold-plated digital music player

Besides the digital music player DMP-Z1 that features a gold-plated volume knob that was announced back in August, Sony released another high-end product and added it to its Signature Series. It is the new IER-Z1R headphones which seem to be as impressive as the player when it comes to performance, just without the outer gold detailing.

What gives the high-resolution to the audio reproduction of the IER-Z1R headphones is the presence of 3 different drivers, first being the 12mm dynamic driver, then a 5mm dynamic driver and finally a balanced armature driver. In addition to this, the terminals and plugs have the best connection possible due to the gold plating, further encouraged with Sony’s audio-grade film capacitors and audio-grade solder.

Besides the elegant look, Sony paid a lot of attention to the comfort of their new IER-Z1R headphones. You have the option of 13 types of ear tips which is more than most other in-ear headphones on the market, allowing you to choose between 6 options of triple-comfort tops and then 7 hybrid ear tips, all kept in place by special ear hangers. Besides being able to interchange the ear tips, you can change the cable as well between the 3.5mm standard one, 4.4mm balanced cable or other optional ones.

The IER-Z1R headphones by Sony are still not available on the US market but only in the eastern Asian one. They will be released with the gold-plated music player in January 2019 and will be priced at $2,300. The price of the player is expected to be $8,500.
