All the iOS 16 Supported Devices… Were you lucked out?

With every new iOS major update, a new group of iPhone devices is put in danger of being eliminated from the new features. And while Apple has proven that it’s the best company to take care of its older devices, this year in WWDC 2022, things are about to change a little, as the list of iOS 16 supported devices came with real surprises!

The new iOS version comes with a handful of new features that make it so desirable for every iPhone user, like the revamped lock screen and the unique functions of the Messages app. But during the WWDC keynote, neither Craig Federighi nor any of his fellas had given us an idea of what iPhone models will be supported with the new iOS release. However, the preview page of the iOS 16 on Apple’s official website has the answer, and the iPhone 7 alongside the iPhone 7 Plus are the ones to be out of the party, besides the iPod Touch, of course!

So, will my current iPhone be able to receive the iOS 16 update? Well, we can say “probably, yes,” given that the old models have a pretty small share of iPhone devices across the world today. Did Apple make the right decision by dropping out the support for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus? We don’t certainly think it was all about decisions, and Apple may have had no choice. The last two updates of iOS had supported the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and even the original iPhone SE, which is the main reason some are surprised about the list of iOS 16 compatible devices starting from the iPhone 8 released back in 2017.
