Beats Solo Pro On-Ear Wireless Headphones Is Here

While Google was announcing their new line-up of products, from the Google Pixel 4 to the new Nest Mini. Apple decided to interrupt, Beats chose today to introduce its new wireless headphones, bringing their active noise cancellation technology to on-ear headphones for the first time, it’s the new Beats Solo Pro.

Although Beats says that the new Pros have a full redesign, they sure do look like the Solo 3 except a few changes such as the metal sliders that are now visible to the user. The new Solo Pros don’t have a power button, instead, they turn on the moment you unfold them, and if you want to turn them off you would have to fold them back again. Another change is their finish, as the new Pros come in a matte finish only. The new headphones will be available in black, ivory,  and gray, in addition to three different colors dark blue, light blue, and red but those will come as a limited edition in partnership with Pharrell Williams.

Beats also redesigned the leather ear cushions to be more comfortable, cover the ear completely, and increase their resistance against sweat. The company also tried to pay attention to the clamping force, so users can wear the headphones for as many hours as they want with no headaches.

Unlike the Solo 3 Wireless headphones, the 3.5mm jack is gone in the Solo Pros. instead, you can find a button that you can use to turn the noise-canceling on and off. You can use this button to switch between Noise-Canceling mode, Transparency, and Extended Power mode.

Other headphones manufacturers usually let you adjust the level of transparency or ambient noise that you want to hear, but Beats decided to give users two options, the transparency mode is either on or off. The reason behind this is that Beats wants users to feel like they are not even wearing headphones when the Transparency mode is on.

The new Beats Solo Pro can run up to 22 hours with Active Noise-canceling on. In case you are in a quiet place and you don’t need ANC, or you want your battery to last longer, then these new headphones can last up to 40 hours on the Extended Power mode. Unfortunately, the Solo Pros still have a Lightning port instead of USB-C, but at least they also have the Fast Fuel feature that will give you 3 hours of battery life after a 10 minutes charge.

The new Beats Solo Pro headphones will start shipping on October 30th for $299.
