John Wick is an American movie series that was created by Derek Kolstad, which consists of three action thriller movies. The movies star Keanu Reeves as John Wick who is an orphan that was brought up to be an assassin for the Russian Mafia. The first John Wick movie (2014) starts when a son of a gangster attacks John’s house and kills his dog, then John gather his crew and go for revenge. The second movie John Wick Chapter two (2017) where John is forced to assassinate someone who he has no wish to kill, then he is faced by betrayal. 2.The Expendables (2010)

The Expendables is an American action movie series written and directed by Sylvester Stallone who also starred in the lead role, the movie series also co-stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, and Mickey Rourke. The Expendables movies were made to honor the action movies of the 80’ and 90’, and to pay gratitude for the stars of the era. The movie series consists of three movies The Expendables 1 (2010), The Expendables 2 (2012), and The Expendables 3 (2014) with two more movies to come in the future which are The Expendables 4 and The ExpendaBelles. Unfortunately, The Expendables 1 is not available on Netflix, but both other movies are available. The movie series is about a group of mercenaries who take different jobs, although some jobs seem easy, things escalate and they end up fighting for their lives. The IMDb rating for the second Expendables movie is 6.6, while the third movie got a rating of 6.1.

3.Black Hawk Down (2001)

Black Hawk Down is an American war film based on the 1999 book of the same name by journalist Mark Bowden about the 1993 raid in Mogadishu by the U.S. military. The U.S. sent military forces into Somalia to destabilize the government and bring food and humanitarian aid to the starving population. The U.S. forces used Black Hawk helicopters to drop the soldiers on the ground, but an unexpected attack by the Somali forces brings down two of the helicopters, from where the soldiers have to struggle in a new war environment to maintain themselves under heavy gunfire from the Somali army. In 2009, an extended cut of the film was released increasing the running time of the movie to 152 minutes. Black Hawk Down won two Academy Awards for Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing. The movie is directed by Ridley Scott, and it has an IMDb rating of 7.7

4.The Hurt Locker (2008)

The Hurt Locker is an American war drama movie directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Mark Boal. the movie tells the story of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit during the Iraq war. After the death of the staff sergeant, the members of the unit find themselves under the command of a new leader who although he has a gift for defusing bombs, he is a high risk-taker, and seems to enjoy war. The movie goes into the soldiers’ psychological reactions to the stress of combat, and how some soldiers like the new unit leader might enjoy it, while others struggle with it. The movie was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, making it the first Best Picture winner by a female director. The Hurt Locker has a 7.6 rating on IMDb.

5.Snowpiercer (2013) 

Snowpiercer is a science fiction action movie based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette. The movie is a South Korean-Czech co-production and it stars Chris Evans. The story of the movie takes place on the Snowpiercer train which making a global tour, carrying those who survived a climate disaster made by humans after an attempt at climate engineering in order to stop global warming that resulted in a new ice age. Curtis Everett is a member of the lower-class tail section passengers who try to lead a revolution against the rich passengers of the train and improve their living conditions by taking over the engine room. The movie was shot in a train cart in Prague. The rating of Snowpiercer on IMDb is 7.1.

6.Sand Castle (2017)

Sand Castle is an American war movie directed by Fernando Coimbra. The movie tells the story of an inexperienced U.S soldier during the Iraq war. After his failed attempt to go home by breaking his arm, he is tasked with a new mission to repair a broken water system in the Iraqi city of Baquba. The repair process takes weeks, the young soldier tries to make contact with the Iraqis in the city and ask them for help, on another occasion, the unit gets attacked by some Iraqi militia, and they lose some of their soldiers. Sand Castle is based on the true events and the experience of the film’s writer Roessner during the Iraq War. it was released in 2017 on Netflix. And it has an IMDb rating of 6.3

7.Polar (2019)

Polar is an American neo-noir action movie based on the 2012 webcomic with the same name. The movie is directed by Jonas Åkerlund and stars Mads Mikkelsen who plays the role of Duncan Vizla or “the Black Kaiser”, a global assassin who works for the Damocles corporation, a private security firm. Duncan is set to retire on his 50th birthday which is approaching in 14 days. The owner of Damocles corporation decides to sell the company, and he wants to escape the commitment of an $8 million payout that the company has to pay for each retired assassin, therefore he decides to kill Duncan. The movie goes as Duncan is forced to go back into business, facing younger assassins that he struggles against them. The IMDb rating for Polar is 6.3.

8.Escape Plan (2013)

Escape Plan film series are three action-thriller movies star Sylvester Stallone as Ray Breslin, a businessman and skilled structural engineer, who is best known for being the world’s greatest escape artist. The first movie was released in 2013 starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The story of the movie goes as Ray Breslin is stuck in one of the most secure prisons in the world, he tries to escape using his years of experience and some help from inside. The second movie in the series was released in 2018 telling another story of Ray Breslin years after his big escape as he starts his own security force. One of his members goes missing, so Breslin now has to find a way to find him and get him back. The third movie of the series was released in 2019 where Breslin has to face the son of an old enemy. The rating of the first Escape Plan movie on IMDb is 6.7.

9.Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

Olympus Has Fallen is an American action thriller movie directed by Antoine Fuqua, and stars Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman. The movie shows a North Korean guerrilla attack on the White House, and how the secret service agent Mike Banning is doing everything he could to save the president. When released the movie was a great success. A sequel of this movie was released in 2016 under the name London Has Fallen, starring the same crew with the same roles, and it’s also available on Netflix. Another sequel under the name Angel Has Fallen will be released later this year. Olympus Has Fallen has an IMDb rating of 6.5.

10.The equalizer (2014)

The Equalizer is an American action thriller movie directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Denzel Washington. The movie tells the story of Robert McCall, a retired Marine and Defense Intelligence Agency operative who believed that he left his past behind and tries to live a quiet life. McCall then meets a young prostitute who is working for the Russian Mafia, and he decides that he will do everything he can to save her from the Mafia. A sequel of the movie was released in 2018.
