Open Challenge for FiiO M-series Wallpapers

Back in the day, and I mean a good 4 or 5 years ago I was involved with creating themes for some of FiiO‘s earliest X-series device, in particular the original X5. It was a great little hobby, one which took up an enormous amount of time and really challenged me to think outside of the box. This process wasn’t just simple wallpaper changes, but something considerably more complex (although it basically consisted of changes a bunch of images).

With FiiO’s latest M-series of device, the possibility to create themes probably wouldn’t become a reality. And so I thought to myself, how can I do something creative for these devices? The only option, really, was to create an interesting wallpaper.

After a few hours creating various elements I eventually came up with this, one image for the home screen, and a complementing image for the lock screen.

What I’m really curious to see is just what kind of incredible creative ideas other people can come up with. So if you’ve got one of FiiO’s M6 or M9 devices, and you think you’ve got the creative knack for creating wallpapers, then brush up on your Photoshop skills and give it a go!
The screen size and where/how FiiO have arranged the home screen icons can be a bit of a challenge as you kinda need to figure out how to either work around it, or incorporate it into your design. But figuring out how to overcome those limitations is half the fun.

You can find a Head-Fi thread for where wallpapers will be posted here. Also, to give you a little head-start, you can download my Photoshop file here which will show you how I created my wallpaper, where the elements (icons) need to line-up, etc.
