Spotify is testing new Spotify Premium Duo subscription plan

Until now Spotify, one of the most popular music streaming services, has offered two subscription options including the regular Premium and Spotify Family option for up to 6 family members. Now, it has added the Spotify Premium Duo which would allow two users to share an account.

Spotify Premium Duo subscription is suitable for couples or roommates that can both get a Spotify account at a decent discount. It comes under one condition, both users must live at the same address which is provided as part of the sign-up process. Each user can create a personal playlist but also share it with Duo partner thanks to the Shared Playlist feature.

Duo subscribers will have all the perks of premium membership in addition of Duo Mix, a new auto-generated playlist that will be shared between users and will be based on taste and music preferences of both users. It will offer music both users would enjoy similar to Discover Weekly or Daily Mix playlists. The phone app would offer “Chill” and “Upbeat” playlist options that allow users to choose a song of preferred tempo at the moment.

At the moment, Spotify Premium Duo subscription is still being tested for a discounted price of $12.49 in Colombia, Chile, Denmark, Ireland, and Poland. The original Premium subscription will stay at $9,99. The Family option is $14,99 per month but the members also must be residents at the same address.

Spotify offers a limited offer in partnership with Hulu giving out free Hulu subscription to new Premium users if they join before summer.
