Launched in Sweden in 2008 by Daniel Ek, Martin Lorentzon Spotify is the most famous music streaming service in the world, with more than 50 million music tracks, 243 million users including 113 premium users.

Spotify’s library is growing every day with hundreds or even thousands of tracks being added every single day. The platform also offers one of the biggest podcast libraries in the market, and it’s a main competitor to iTunes and the brand new Apple Music.

Spotify Availability and Supported Devices

Spotify is available in over 70 countries around the world, this includes most of Europe, North America, some parts of Asia, some countries of South America, and the MENA region. You can check if your country is among those countries through the company’s official website.

Supports almost every device, from smartphones to Windows and Mac PC, through tablets, as well as a browser platform just in case you have an operating system that is not supported yet.

Stations by Spotify

In 2018, Spotify started testing a new standalone app called Stations by Spotify for Australian Android users. It features 62 music channels, each devoted to a particular genre. Spotify itself has two channels named after its playlists that link directly to the users’ profile: “Release Radar” and “Discover Weekly”. The point of the app is to make it easier for users to listen to music without the need to build a playlist. Non-paying users will still receive location-based ads.

Spotify Podcast

In 2019, the company announced that it had acquired a few podcasts companies and streaming services including Gimlet Media, Anchor FM Inc, and Parcast establishing itself as a major player in the podcast industry. 

Through many updates to its mobile app, the company is trying to incorporate podcasts into the app, making it easier for users to explore, find, and listen to new podcasts.
