Como Audio’s new smart speakers combine modernity with retro feel

Smart speakers have become increasingly popular as of recently, with companies racing to release their new models with their own styling and features. Today it was “Como Audio” that announced two new smart speakers at once: the Musica and Amico, delivering good performance in classic stylish casing.

The first model, Musica, is the biggest of the two and it’s designed mainly for home use instead of a traveling companion. As soon as you take a look at the speaker you’ll notice the 3.2-inch screen in the middle and the white simplistic case. Eight customizable presets are available here with the ability to program any button to use any service you want. Musica supports many sources like Spotify Connect, Deezer, Napster and Amazon Music, as well as traditional USB and Auxiliary connectivity.

To go further in delivering a classic feel Musica comes equipped with an actual CD reader, which is something we hadn’t seen in years now with most of the speakers being Wi-Fi only. There’s also support for NFC to provide fast transmission with other devices and of course internet access.

On the other hand we have Amico, which is almost the opposite of the previous model in being smaller, designed for portability with barely 3 and a half pound of weight, and with a smaller screen. The outside casing is designed from wood and it houses three water-proof soundwoofers, four layered voice coil, and a 3/4 inch dome tweeter.

The screen here is barely 3-inch, but it’s more than enough to navigate the different menus and tweak settings. As it is for Musica the Amico also supports the same music sources, in addition to its ability of connecting to a multi-room setup to play music in the entire house. Battery lasts for about 8 hours on %60 volume, but its recharging time might not be that practical as it takes 4 hours to fill entirely.

Both products are releasing first through Kickstarter before being available to public in October. The Kickstarter price will be sitting at $599 for Musica and a $399 for Amico.
