Echo Dot Kids Edition: smart speaker designed for kids

Amazon has launched a new edition of its mini smart speaker. Echo Dot Kids Edition is designed to attract even the youngest members in any household with two colorful designs and be their helper throughout the day. With the new Dot, users would also get a one-year subscription to FreeTime Unlimited Service.

The Free Unlimited services would offer a lot of content that is intended for kids, from audiobooks on Audible and podcasts, to Flash Briefings about a topic and Word of the Day. Kids can ask for dance music, facts about any topic, ask random questions and even request to hear a bedtime story.

Parents can also create their own skills with the kids using the Alexa Skill Blueprint. Moreover, using the FreeTime Unlimited, they can set use-time limits for the device, as well as filter out songs that have inappropriate lyrics. The device also provides parents with an activity review through the Alexa app of the Alexa Privacy Hub.

The features of the Echo Dot Kids Edition are the same as of the Echo Dot 3rd generation. The smart speaker is covered in fabric and the new edition brings two color options for the kids: light blue and rainbow. The speaker is currently available for pre-order for $49.99, but the regular price would be $69.99. The official release date is going to be on 26th June 2019.
