PlayStation 5: Everything Known So Far About The New Console

Rumors about PlayStation 5 are slowly showing up right before the E3 2019 conference taking place by the middle of June. Sony, as every year in the past two decades, was expected to be one of the presenters but, has announced it will not be present. This means the new PlayStation 5 will be released later in a separate event, perhaps another State of Play live stream. Until then, here is everything we know so far about the new console.

PlayStation 5 Features

Mark Cerny, the system architect of the new console, revealed some major specifications that can be found on PS5, including the third-generation AMD Ryzen processor in combination with a GPU that will have AMD’s Radeon Navi architecture capable of ray tracing that will offer light effects mimicking behavior in real life. It will also have 8K graphics and a specialized HDD for memory that will significantly improve the speed of the console.

PS 5 is also going to be compatible with the current PlayStation VR, meaning the PSVR headset will work just fine. Other accessories such as PlayStation Move controllers are still not known whether they will be compatible or not.

PlayStation 5 Games

As the release date is still far enough, there are no official titles that will be apart of the PS5 catalog, but as several existing games are expected to get sequels, they will most likely be coming to the new console. These include “God of War” and “Horizon Zero Dawn” fro which PlayStation 5 will tell the rest of the stories.

There are other video game publishers whose games can be expected to come to PS 5, such as CD Projekt Red and its two games, “Cyberpunk 2077” and “Elder Scrolls 6” which can be expected to be released after the official release of the new console. Other titles include “Starfield” by Bethesda Game Studios and two other titles which will probably be between generations: “Death Stranding” and “Final Fantasy 7” Remake.

Moreover, it has been confirmed that the PS4 titles will be available on the new console, but it is still unknown whether this includes all titles and the VR experiences as well.

PlayStation 5 Cloud Gaming

Most major companies have already made their move into cloud gaming but Sony and Microsoft have still been lagging behind others. Their recently announced partnership in order to build a cloud-based service on the Azure platform that will offer a solution for Sony’s game and content streaming services. This means that the games would be streamed from the platform rather than the console itself. Details of the result of the partnership are still not known but seem to be connected with the release of the new console.

PlayStation 5 Release Date

The exact release date is still not known, but what we can be sure is that it will be announced through a separate event, or the next years E3 conference. Based on a recent report, it probably won’t be launched in the next 12 months which sets the official announcement of the console and its specs by the end of 2019.

PlayStation 5 Price

The price is still not set for the new generation of PlayStation, but there is a price range that it might fit into. Keeping in mind that the PlayStation 4 is sold for $358 and the PS4 Pro is $400, the new PS5 is very likely going to be between $400 and $500. Due to the potential subscription offer, there might be additional, optional costs.
