Fitbit Versa 2 brings Alexa to your daily routine

At the beginning of August, we saw some of the most promising leaks that showed what the new Fitbit smartwatch was supposed to look like, and it seems they were right as the company revealed the new device today. The new Fitbit Versa 2 still has the popular design of last year’s model, but with just the right updates to catch our attention and hundreds of watch faces you can choose from to personalize your sidekick.

Talking about the design, the device might seem slightly chunky but it is in fact quite lightweight. It has almost the same bezels around the display as before, but the new model has an AMOLED screen that significantly improves the colors on the screen. Furthermore, unlike the original model that had three buttons, for the latest one company opted for just one similar to the one found in Versa Lite. The watch also offers the Always On Display mode meaning that even just a glance during a workout will provide you with the most important metrics and time.

When it comes to most features of the new Fitbit Versa 2, you can expect pretty much the same as the previous model, meaning that there is still lack of GPS so you will have to carry your smartphone with you in order to keep track of the map. The battery got a small upgrade to 5+ days. Users also got the contactless payment feature with Fitbit Pay. You can install hundreds of apps on the smartwatch in order to make it more personalized and useful for everyday use, including media apps like Spotify or Pandora, to more functional apps like timer and weather.

When it comes to internals, one of the biggest changes is the introduction of a microphone which adds quite a few functions to an already well-rounded smartwatch, meaning you will be able to reply to messages using your voice, but also use a voice assistant, Alexa in particular. To access the assistant, all you need to do is press one button on the side and you will be able to ask anything or request anything such as adding things to your shopping list, checking the weather and more.

Some of the fitness-related features you can count on are guidance and insight into your activity and sleep, guided workouts and motivational challenges, as well as the ability to compete with your friends and family. Using the Fitbit app on your phone, you will be able to see and review all the collected data on daily level in order to improve your performance, including the steps, distance, calories, sleep cycle, pace, and detailed metrics related to over 15 goal-based exercise modes, including swimming as the watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters depth.

The official launch date of Fitbit Versa 2 is going to be September 15th but the pre-orders can already be made on the company’s website. The new smartwatch is going to be priced the same as the old one at the release, starting at $199.95. Users will also have the Special Edition option for $229.95 which comes with two bands and a 3-month free trial of Fitbit Premium. The color options you can choose from include: Black/Carbon Aluminum, Stone/Mist Grey Aluminum, Petal/Copper Rose Aluminum, Bordeaux/Copper Rose Aluminum, Emerald/Copper Rose Aluminum and Smoke Woven/Mist Grey Aluminum or Navy & Pink Woven/Copper Rose Aluminum for Special Edition model.
