FiiO Releases FW1.6 For EH3NC

The EH3NC is FiiO’s very first full-sized headphone, and is one which is surprisingly packed full of a whole host of premium features which you’d normally only find on much pricier flagship products. Despite its modest price-tag of toughly $ 170-200, you get easy one-touch NFC pairing, compatibility with a wide range of Bluetooth codecs which include LDAC and AptX HD and even AptX Low Latency, active noise cancellation, as well as up to 50-hours of playback time. So, it’s easy to see why the EH3NC seems like a very intriguing product indeed. However, as with practically all electronic devices that rely on some sort of software to control the hardware, certain fixes and other optimizations can only be realized via a software update.In the case of the EH3NC, this comes in the form of update FW1.6 which aims to address some minor bugs whilst also improving on other aspects.

What’s New In FW1.6?

According to FiiO, the FW1.6 update brings about the following improvements and changes:

1. Improved the Bluetooth reception performance;
2. Improved the compatibility with some Bluetooth transmitters in the market;
3. Fixed the prompt sound of power on / off to power on / off.

Perform The Update

Unfortunately, the update process is not as simple or convenient as an OTA (over-the-air) update, but instead does require a little bit of manual effort.
In order to install the FW1.6 update to the EH3NC you will first need to download the appropriate update file, which can be found here . Then you’ll need to connect the EH3NC to a computer and run the upgrade app from that computer via FiiO’s specific upgrade app. It might seem like a slightly daunting task for some, but it really isn’t a horribly complicated process, and FiiO have documented the exact required steps / process in this guide which certainly does make things easier.
