Google Duo audio calls are coming to Google Home speakers

Just when we thought that landline calls are part of history, smart speakers showed up to give a similar service. Many smart speakers in the market allow you to call you to call any other user who has the same smart speaker as you do but this doesn’t include the Google Home smart speakers. Now, the ability to make Google Duo calls is starting to roll out for some users.

While the service is up and running on Amazon Echo, and Apple HomePod for a while now. Users of Google Home smart speakers were not able to make phone calls using their speakers. Except for the Google Home Hub which allows you to make Google Duo audio and video calls as well.

A tipster told Android Police that they were able to make a Google Duo audio call using their Google Home Mini device to another device. The option to set up the Google Duo account on Google Home speaker showed up while setting up a new speaker but still, not all users have it.

Google didn’t announce the rollout officially but you can still check out the sitting in your Google Home app every now and then. Maybe you are one of the lucky users that got the new feature already.
