Galaxy Home Mini Release Date Accidentally Revealed

Even though Samsung announced its first Bixby-powered smart home speaker back in 2018, the more time passed the more everyone slowly started believing that the release date might never actually come. That is, until Samsung accidentally posted an article with the official announcement of Galaxy Home Mini a couple of days ago in Korean, alongside the release date.

Galaxy Home Mini Release Date & Price

The post was unfortunately deleted very fast, but that did not prevent the info from spreading: Galaxy Home Mini is coming to the South Korean market on the 12th of February 2020, a day after the Samsung Unpacked event at which we will see the two new Galaxy flagships. Even though we now know the release date for Asia, there are no signs as to when it might appear on the Western markets, but that move is very likely nevertheless. The reason for the delay was never specified, but everything points to its main feature: voice assistant Bixby that might have needed further development to become a home assistant. The price for South Korea was also announced, set at around $83, with a similar price expected for other markets too.

Galaxy Home Mini Features

From the features that are known about the speaker, the main one is that it will have Bixby, Samsung’s in-house voice assistant. The concept is going to be pretty much the same as other popular home smart speakers such as Nest Home or Amazon Echo, allowing you to use voice commands to set timers, ask questions, play media and much more. With two built-in microphones, it is going to be able to hear you even if you are not directly next to it, but it will also have IR remote control capabilities as well as volume controls and a mute button on the device itself.
