iPad 8: Everything You Need To Know

Apple held its Time Flies 2020 event today and has announced several new additions to its smartwatch and tablet series that we’ve been expecting for quite some time now. This included a new Apple Watch Series 6 and 6 SE, as well as three new tablets including a new iPad Air, Pro, and finally, the standard iPad 8 which for the first time ever features a Neural Engine for even better performance. As it is the case with every new generation of iPads, the 8th generation brings us even closer to owning a perfect device for multitasking and learning, with features that are versatile enough to support you in pretty much any situation at school or work. Here is everything you need to know about it.

iPad 8 Specs & Design

The most highlighted specification of the iPad 8 is the A12 Bionic chip that brings significant performance improvement to Apple’s standard tablet model. This will not only support your daily use but also allow you to enjoy any of the Apple Arcade games in an even more immersive experience. Moreover, the new iPad can also be paired with Xbox Wireless Controller, PlayStation DualShock controller, and also MFi game controller for even more convenient and enjoyable gameplay. But, there is more to the A12 Bionic chip than only games, as the focus also encompasses more augmented reality experiences, from playing games to learning.

The 8th generation iPad is still convenient to carry around as it is quite lightweight thanks to its aluminum housing and offers up to 10 hours of use on a single charge. And, even if you don’t have Wi-Fi, there is LTE connectivity that will allow you to keep browsing on the go, or use any of the million different apps available in the App Store. When it comes to cameras, you get an 8 megapixels back camera in combination with a HD FaceTime camera. Any videos or photos you take can easily be edited using the Apple Pencil or even just your finger, giving you one last chance to improve your content before sharing it further. Of course, we have to also mention the 10.2 inches retina display which, combined with the stereo speakers, provide you with your own portable home theatre, including the shows on Apple TV+.

Accessories

The new iPad is compatible with the Smart Keyboard, making it even more convenient for use in a wide variety of scenarios. You will be able to connect the device to a full-size keyboard without having to charge it or even pair it, allowing you to even use it as a temporary laptop option which will indeed come in handy at times. Of course, there is also the Apple Pencil which you can use for design and illustrations on many compatible apps available in the App Store. You can edit or write over documents or photos, and even sign documents. Taking notes, highlighting or even erasing seems even more simple than on the actual paper, and you can even copy the handwritten notes as text if need be thanks to the iOS 14.

iOS 14

It doesn’t come as a surprise that the new iPad 8 is going to run the new iOS 14 which will officially be available on the 16th September, allowing you to take advantage of all new features that will come with it, including the Multi-Touch display, split-screen feature, improved notes-taking abilities, Smart Selection, Scribble, and more.
