Light Speaker is a portable lantern-like Bluetooth speaker

Kickstarter has been known for a variety of crowdfunding campaigns that range from a needle to a horse, but also often dabble in the world of audio devices, especially new and unusual speakers. This includes a recently published campaign for a Light Speaker by Transparent that promises portable sound and light experience and has caught the eye of some of the most famous tech news sites including Wired and What Hi-Fi?. Here is what you can expect from the features and its unique design. 

First, let’s talk about the design of the Light Speaker that draws its inspiration for a traditional lantern that you would take on your camping trip. The speaker has a transparent middle section that, using light, creates the effect of the real flame that moves and dances with the rhythm of your music. Moreover, it has a long lantern-like handle that allows you to easily move it around and carry it basically anywhere, especially as it is only 0.6kg. On the side, you can find two knobs that allow you to adjust the brightness of the light, as well as the volume. The device is modular, which means that the parts can be repaired separately too if need be.

When it comes to performance, the Light Speaker includes a 3” woofer on the bottom and a 2.5” full-range driver on top of the enclosure which delivers 360 degrees sound. With the Transparent sound, it offers immersive audio while still maintaining the natural tone that was originally intended by the artist. Thanks to the Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, you can play music from basically any device no matter where you are, but you can also create a stereo setup if you combine two Lights. 

Light Speaker is already available on Kickstarter, but the campaign has reached even more than its original goal. If you hurry, you can grab one of the last early bird promotions for $230, after which the speaker will be available for $260. The estimated delivery is in April 2021.
