Google Stadia update brings 4K & Captures on the Web

March has started off pretty good for Google Stadia with two feature updates and two game updates. Google Stadia update summary includes the previously announced 4K web gaming, improved Stadia Captures, new exclusive games department and the addition of a game classic to the Stadia library.

4K Gaming on the Web

Earlier this year Google revealed a roadmap with all features that players can expect by the end of Q1, which is end of March. The first step was adding more compatible smartphones by adding three brands to the list, and now it’s time for the next significant Google Stadia update: 4K gaming on the web. The feature is already in the process of rolling out, and it will allow players to enjoy 4K gameplay without having to have Chromecast Ultra which was a requirement until now for this feature. 4K gaming on the web is going to be available for all Stadia Pro users, but it will still technically require an “excellent” connection.

Stadia Captures

Another feature that is finally rolling out on Google Stadia is the Stadia Captures. So far, users were able to take captures using the Stadia Controller or F12 button, but could see them only on Android or iOS. At the same time, they couldn’t even zoom in and out or download the images, but that is about the change with the latest Google Stadia update. Good news for Stadia Base users is that they will also be able to enjoy this feature with the limit of 100 clips and unlimited screenshots, while Stadia Pro users will be limited to 500 30-seconds long videos. The Captures can now be downloaded for a well-organized chronological grid gallery that shows you which game is it taken from as well as allow you to download or delete each Capture. The feature is currently only updated on the web, but hopefully it will be coming to phone users soon as well.

Stadia Games & Entertainment Playa Vista

Since the release of Google Stadia in November, there was a specific division in charge of Stadia game titles known as the Stadia Games & Entertainment and located in Montreal, Canada. Now, Google has announced a second development studio that will be located in Los Angeles, USA, and will be in charge of the addition of exclusive games as well as new gameplay mechanics. The studio will be led by Shannon Studstill, a producer with over 20 years of experience in the field known for its work as an executive producer of the God of War series.

Google Stadia Serious Sam Collection

As of now, Stadia players will be able to enjoy the whole Serious Sam Collection developed by Croteam and Devolver Digital.
