Massdrop Finally Testing Local EU Shipping Option

Well, it seems like the complaints have finally started paying off. Massdrop have been listening to their users and have announced that they will be testing out a local shipping option for EU member-states.

Up until now, all Massdrop items have been shipped from the USA, but it makes sense to have a more localised distribution centre for other parts of the world, particularly Europe. This would mean a decrease in shipping time and costs for European deliveries and all applicable taxes would be included in the price at time of purchase.
In fact, I recently discussed my ordeal with the shipping process in my review of the HD58X (to be published soon).
As this is still just a trial-period, the number of products and quantity of each product is extremely limited. Once all items have been sold Massdrop will then evaluate how effective this new distribution option is.

It should also be mentioned that it seems that placing an order for one of the products located in the EU distribution warehouse must be delivered to an EU address.
This means that, unfortunately, if you live close to but not in Europe and wanted to take advantage of this faster shipping process, you can’t.

Which Massdrop items are available?

For now you can place an order for the K7XX, TR-X00, HE4XX, O2+SDAC, and the Massdrop x Alex Cavalli Tube Hybrid Amp.

As you might notice, there are no Sennheiser products included.
Massdrop did address this by saying:
We’ve chosen to roll out European distribution as quickly as possible, so our logistics and supplier coordination is still getting ironed out. We hope to eventually have everything available for European distribution, but it will be a gradual process. At this time, we have no ETA on when our Massdrop x Sennheiser products will be available via this new shipping method.”

What seems really odd about this is that both the HD6XX and HD58X (and probably other Massdrop x Sennheiser products) are made in Ireland. Now, I’m not sure how foggy your high-school geography is at this point, but I distinctly remember Ireland being very much in Europe.
Perhaps the reason for not including items made in Ireland is because Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, and as such the uncertainty revolving around the whole Brexit shambles doesn’t make those items viable for this trial period.

Anyways, hopefully all goes well and Massdrop will find this distribution method to be perfectly viable.
