Meet Avara – Affordable CIEMs from Indonesia

In recent years we’ve become spoiled for choice with the sheer plethora of IEMs that are out in the market. The market is rather saturated with products made by Shure, Fiio, iBasso, among many, MANY others. However, there’s also a growing market for totally custom-made IEMs, where each shell is designed specifically for a single person’s individual ears. Unique Melody is just one such company, but there is a new kid on the block called Avara, and they hail from Indonesia.

Who is Avara?

As mentioned, Avara is based in Indonesia, and their pitch is to provide customers with the highest quality custom and universal IEMs, with an incredibly fast production lead-time of just 3 days. Usually, getting custom-made IEMs from some of the bigger brands can easily take several weeks. However, this is largely due to the advancements in 3D printing technology of the last few years, which cuts out A LOT of the manual labour that was required previously.

Thus far Avara have have released 5 models of IEMs, namely the AV1, AV1S, AV2, AV3, and AV4. As you might have guessed, the numbers in the names are indicative of the number of drivers used for each earpiece.

Head over to Avara’s website for more info on each model and their respective sound signatures.

Pricing

So, does Avara live up to this idea of creating affordable IEMs? Well, pricing is pegged at $165 for the AV1, $220 for the AV1S, $235 for the AV2, $315 for the AV3, and $599 for the AV4.
