Mr.Speakers Changes Name to Dan Clark Audio

Mr.Speakers’ Aeon and Ether line of headphones have gained a fair amount of popularity over the last couple of years. However, the interesting thing is that, despite the company’s name, they don’t actually offer any speakers whatsoever, instead focusing on personal audio such as headphones. So, after frequent feedback from their customers, Mr.Speakers have decided to re-brand themselves, and after some deliberation they’ve decided that the most fitting name would be that of Mr.Speakers’ founder and president, and thus will now be known as Dan Clark Audio.

The Aeon 2

Coinciding with the name change, Dan Clark Audio have also introduced a new addition to their headphone lineup – the Aeon 2.
The new headphone is available in both an open and closed-back form and have retained the same overall design of the previous Aeon, but with a new deep-red colour scheme.
The open model weighs in at 321g, whereas the open-back variant will tip the scale at 340g.
Compared to the original Aeon, the driver structure on the Aeon 2 has been rotated by 180-degrees to remove magnet and flow structures from the diaphragm to the ear. The flow elements have also been simplified in the sense of being converted to a single structure, and thus removing any air gaps in order to improve the internal airflow.
Where the previous flow structures were constructed by means of injection-moulding, the updated version features a machined structure, and the driver itself has undergone improved damping which should give better resolution, dynamics and a smoother frequency response.

The planar magnetic driver has a low impedance of just 13-ohms along with an efficiency of 92dB/mW for the closed-back variant, and 94dB/mW for the open-back version.

Both the open-back and the closed-back versions are in stock and available from the new Dan Clark Audio website and comes with a starting price of $899.99 for both version.
