Nest Hub Max By Google Has A 10-Inch Display
During the I/O 2019 conference in May, Google announced that it will be revealed its new smart screen on the 9th of September and the date is finally here. Google Nest Hub Max is the first smart display by the company that was released under the new Google Nest smart home brand instead of being rebranded like other devices.
Google Nest Hub Max is based on the Nest Hub smart display with the majority of the features being in common, except for the screen size. As the name suggests, the new Max is going to have a 10-inch instead of the original 7-inch screen. Introduction of a bigger screen does make certain actions a bit easier, more specifically watching videos on, for example, YouTube. Even having a video call is a bit more comfortable with the new 6.5 megapixels camera. With 127 degrees wide camera, you will be automatically framed and a part of the view which means that even if you are moving a bit, the person on the other side of the call is still going to be able to see you entirely.
Of course, a bigger screen and an improved camera are not the only features of the new Nest Hub Max. The 3-inch woofer and 0.7 inch tweeters found under the display create a stereo speaker system. In the same manner that Voice Match identifies your voice and adapts its behavior based on each user, with the addition of camera on this smart device there is the Face Match that basically does the same thing. Each household member will be able to receive their own notifications for reminders, calendar event and video call notifications from friends and family from their Duo. Of course, taking even more advantage of the camera is the Quick Gesture feature that adjusts the media playback if you gaze at the screen or raise your arms.
Other interesting features that you can look forward to is the use of Google Assistant, Google Photos slideshow when the device is not in use, and the built-in Nest Cam. With the Nest Cam you are able to use your smartphone when away from home to check out a live view in real-time, and even set it to notify you when there is motion or sound alert. Furthermore, you can connect Nest Hub Max to other smart devices and appliances around the house, from the lights and thermostat to other smart speakers and control them altogether through one network. You can also check out numerous entertainment apps and enjoy the games and other media content.
Lastly, as privacy has become such an important part of technology, Google is trying to ensure that all the data is being secured and that you are fully aware of its use. This is why the Face Match data is encrypted and stored on the device itself. The device offers a change for users to mute the microphone which automatically disables the camera lens and gives you more privacy when you wish.
Google Nest Hub Max is available in two color options: Chalk and Charcoal, both going for $229. Currently, the device is available in the US, UK, and Australia, with other countries coming soon.
