Say Hello To The New Audeze LCD-4 Headphones
Audeze have made quite a name for themselves with their LCD line of products. In fact, the name Audeze has pretty much become synonymous with the idea of high fidelity, hand-crafted, luxury, and exclusivity as far as the headphones world is concerned.
Following on from their previous LCD models, Audeze has introduced us to their very latest offering, the LCD-4. Their LCD line of products include open-back, closed-back (such as the LCD-XC), and even IEM designs (LCD-i4). However, the main focus (in terms of design) of the LCD line is to make use of planar magnetic technology. According to Audeze, the LCD-4 is a product which “represents 40 years of advancements in planar magnetic technology”, as well as their own research and development dating back to 2009 (which is when they introduced their very first product).
Their most advanced headphone
The LCD-4 promises to deliver “startling dynamics and incredibly open and spacious sound” thanks to its innovative planar magnetic technology.
It features a “near-weightless nano-scale diaphragm”. This is apparently Audeze’s most advanced diaphragm design to date, which Audeze says “actually weighs less than the air it displaces”. That’s pretty damn interesting and impressive.
Their patented Fazor Elements are implemented to guide the sound-waves generated within the headphone in such a manner to avoid resonance frequencies from interfering with the music.
Handcrafted
Audeze take great pride in the fact that their products are both designed and engineered by hand in their California factory. The wood rings alone take 4 weeks to shape and polish into their final luxurious forms. An extraordinary amount of pedantic attention to detail and refinement is employed. Transducers are closely matched, after which the aforementioned rings are matched according to grain and colour. The earpads too are matched by leather texture and colour.
Pricing
Audeze have stated that pricing for the LCD-4 comes in at $3995; that’s a whopping $2050 more than their LCD-3.
