OnePlus Buds Are Here At A Great Price

Truly wireless earbuds have been popular among companies for a few years now, most companies release new wireless earbuds every year, but OnePlus didn’t join the trend until now, even though they release new earbuds every year with their annual flagship. The Chinese company is releasing its first pair of truly wireless earbuds, the OnePlus Buds, alongside the new affordable OnePlus Nord

The OnePlus Buds feature an AirPods-like “half in-ear” design with no silicone tips. Of course, there are some original OnePlus elements such as the flat CD-like circle on the top of each earbud that we’ve seen before on the OnePlus Bullets Wireless. The new Buds are available in three colors, White, Gray, and Nord Blue. The charging cases feature the same colors as the earbuds except that the blue case has a neon green interior. While the cases have a matte texture, the earbuds are glossy plastic.

OnePlus is using two 13.4mm drivers to power the Buds which should produce pretty decent audio. Unfortunately, there is no noise cancellation given the lack of silicone tips, but OnePlus claims that the earbuds feature environmental noise cancellation using three outer mics, this should improve the quality of phone calls and recordings, eliminating the surrounding noise. The Buds are also IPX4 water-resistant.

Software features are as important as hardware ones, and the OnePlus Buds are full of them, they support Google’s open Fast Pair standard. That means that the Buds can connect to any Android phone, not only OnePlus without going into the settings menu as they would be linked to your Google account. They feature Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity.

Touch controls are also on board, a double tap will skip a track when listening to music, a press for 3 seconds will switch devices, and a 5-second press will answer the phone when receiving a call. OnePlus phone users will be able to customize the touch controls on each bud to play/pause, voice assistant, and skipping/rewinding tracks.

The Buds can run for up to 7 hours on a single charge, and the charging case will provide you with another 23 hours of battery, that’s a little over three charges. Fast charging the case for 10 minutes will fill it up with up to 10 hours of battery, while a 10-minute charge of the buds will get you 100 minutes of music playback. Just like other OnePlus products, the charging case features a USB-C port. A Wrap charger is not included in the box, only a USB-c cable.

If you pair the Buds to a OnePlus smartphone, they can have super-low latency, especially when starting OnePlus’s own Fnatic mode for gaming, this will reduce audio latency on the earbuds down to just 103ms which is very impressive for truly wireless earbuds. Another advantage for OnePlus smartphone users is Dolby Atmos audio which is supported only when pairing to a OnePlus device.

The OnePlus Buds are available now worldwide including the United States, Canada, Europe, India, China, and Hong Kong. priced at $79 / £79 / €89. The white and gray color options will be available worldwide, but “Nord Blue” is exclusive to India and Europe.
