OnePlus Nord: Everything you need to know
After so many months of rumours and high expectations, OnePlus has officially released its first mid-range smartphone in years. As the latest leaks and teasers have predicted, the new mid-range device is called OnePlus Nord and it was debuted using an AR launch that took place today. So, what were we right about? And what can you expect to get your hands on in August when the device officially hits the markets? It’s time to round up all of the most important details and features of the latest OnePlus device.
OnePlus Nord Design
OnePlus Nord elegantly fits into the OnePlus family with its simple sleek style and the signature logo on the backside. The back camera, which we will talk more about in a bit, is located on the left backside in an oval housing, while the front one takes the shape of an oval punch-hole on the top left corner of the display. Talking about the display, Nord features a flat AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. OnePlus’ mid-ranger is going to be available in two colors, Blue Marble and Gray Onyx, which perfectly match the newly announced OnePlus Buds colors too.
OnePlus Nord Specs
Even though the OnePlus Nord is a mid-range device, OnePlus still made sure that it offers solid internals. Most of the features were already predicted in the numerous rumors, including the officially confirmed Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip which means the company did not skip over its promise that all upcoming devices will have 5G network-compatible chipset. Furthermore, we have two RAM and storage combinations which are pretty standard at this point for the company: 8GB RAM matched with 128GB storage or 12GB RAM matched with 256GB storage.
When it comes to battery, Nord includes a 4,115mAh battery but also OnePlus Warp Charging that significantly cuts the charging time. With the Warp Charge 30T, it would take you half an hour to get to around 70% battery which means you could charge it even during the daily drive back from work. The last specification we must mention is the software that will be available with Nord. The pre-installed software will be OxygenOS 10.5 that is also the latest version of Oxygen and brings improved Dark Mode and Zen Mode, among other features. This also puts Nord on the list of devices that will be among the first to get OxygenOS 11 with its release later this year.
OnePlus Nord Camera
As mentioned before, the back camera takes place on the top left corner in an oval-shaped housing. The quad-camera setup features 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, 5-megapixel depth sensor, 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 48-megapixel main lens that matches the one available on the OnePlus 8 flagship. Even though Nord is a mid-range device, this did not stop OnePlus from introducing a completely new feature. This time, it is a dual-sensor front camera setup which includes a 32-megapixel main lens and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens that will probably improve those group selfies we’ve all been struggling with.
OnePlus Nord Release Date & Price
Despite a few months of anticipation, the new Nord is not immediately available for sale, but you will officially be able to purchase it in two weeks, starting on the 4th of August 2020. As predicted, the mid-range device comes at a more affordable price point than the flagship that was released a couple of months ago, with two options: $480 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, or $590 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Both color options mentioned before, Blue Marble and Gray Onyx, will be available at launch.
