Parasound added Halo JC5 amplifier to its Halo line

Halo is one of the four main product lines of Parasound, the famous company that has a goal to bring its consumers high-quality audio devices with much more reasonable prices. As their premier line, Halo is getting expanded by a new device, the Halo JC5 amplifier which was designed by legendary John Curl.

It is hard not to get into more small details about it because the Halo JC5 stereo power amplifier has so many features worth mentioning. It’s impossible to skip that it features ultra-high bias Class A/AB arrangement, also keeping in mind that due to this it is able to deliver 400 or 600 watts at 8 or 4 ohms respectively per channel, or even 1200 watts into 8 ohms if we are talking about the bridged mode. Moreover, each channel receives 12 watts of pure Class A power. There are no capacitors or inductors, meaning that Halo JC5 amplifier has a direct-coupled signal path.

We need to reflect on the power supply of the Halo JC5 amplifier as well, 1.7kVA shielded toroid power transformer has for each of the channels an independent winding, that is, windings separately for the left and right channel input stages, driver stages and, lastly, output stages. The amplifier features the MOSFET driver stage, JFET input stage with 132,000 µF Rubycon filer capacitors, while the output stage features 60MHz bipolar transistors achieving peak current at 90 amp. The capacitors for this stage are 8,880 µF Nichicon Gold Tune filter capacitors.

The retail price of the most recent amplifier in the Parasound selection of products, the Halo JC5 amplifier, is suggested at $5,995. You can choose between silver or black outer shell finish and it even comes with mount hardware to help you install it in your home.
