Sony WH-1000X M3 Appears on FCC Listing

There’s no denying it, sometimes Sony makes some genuinely fantastic products. The successor of the original WH-1000X, the WH-1000XM2, proved to be a reliable, great performing and great sounding set of wireless headphones. It may not have had quite the same comfort of the Bose QC 35 II (after all, “comfort” is right in the name of these), but the Sonys were arguably better sounding, more premium-looking, and a broader feature-set. Now it seems that Sony is ready to refresh this product once more in the form of the WH-1000X M3

WH-1000X M3 Details

Well, as far as details are concerned, we’re gonna have to wait a bit longer. The very existence of the WH-1000X M3 only came to light when it was found that Sony had filed an FCC listing for the new product. The FCC is a commission in the United States which is tasked to regulate device that have wireless connectivity, and so companies who intend to sell their products in the US domestic market must essentially register the product with the FCC. This is merely to ensure that all device are in strict compliance with the requirements for wireless devices to be sold in the US.

The only things we know so far is that the WH-1000X M3 is a device which operate on frequencies within the 2.402 – 2.48GHz band (which is Bluetooth) – so nothing new there. The images that can be found on the FCC listing here aren’t exactly super high-res, so it’s difficult to make out if there are any major changes in terms of the aesthetic design and/or construction of the WH-1000X M3.

Availability

The WH-1000X M3 is of course not yet available as it hasn’t even been debuted yet. It seems quite likely that we’ll get a better look at the WH-1000X M3 during IFA 2018 in early September.
