Roku Streambar Is A Compact Streaming Soundbar

It’s been a year since the release of Roku’s Smart Soundbar, now the company is announcing a new and more compact soundbar. The Roku Streambar is not only a soundbar, but it also offers access to Roku’s streaming services, making it one of the best upgrades for your TV.

While the Roku Smart Soundbar was over 32 inches long, the new Roku Streambar is less than half the size at 14 inches. Roku didn’t launch the Smart Soundbar globally, but the Streambar will be launched worldwide by mid-October making it the first Roku speaker to get a global launch.

The smaller size allows users to fit the soundbar right under the TV without worrying about space. Wall-mounting is still an option for all the minimalists out there.

Inside this compact design, there are four full-range drivers. The two drivers in the center are directed forward, while the two drivers on the sides are angled to deliver the audio around the room and offer a surround sound-like experience with the support of Dolby Audio.

When it comes to connections, the new Streambar features an HDMI ARC port, as well as an optical audio port making it compatible with most TVs. It also supports Bluetooth so it can be used as a Bluetooth speaker. Spotify Connect is on board allowing users to stream music on Spotify. A USB port on the back of the soundbar allows you to play music locally from a USB stick.

The new Roku Streambar can connect to WiFi in order to provide all the streaming services that are available on Roku’s devices such as Netflix, Amazon Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, YouTube. The Streambar will also offer some regional services depending on the country. It will provide all the streaming services in 4K HDR if the TV supports those formats.

The Streambar comes with a remote control that features shortcut buttons to your favorite streaming services and can control most TV models. The remote also supports voice control with most of the virtual assistants on board such as Google Assistant, and Alexa. A software update will come later offering support for Apple HomeKit, this includes Siri and Apple AirPlay 2.

The Roku Streambar will be available worldwide in mid-October, and it will sell at $129.99 which is a reasonable price for such a device.
