Galaxy Buds Pro: release date, specs, design rumors

Samsung Galaxy S21 is expected to be released in less than a month, but rumor has it that the smartphone flagship series will be accompanied by a new set of truly wireless earbuds. With such a close release date, we know most things about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, so here is everything that has been leaked so far, and everything you need to know before the official launch.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Features

No features have yet been officially confirmed, but thanks to a few leaks we have a really good idea of what the buds might be like. The first and one of the most important ones was found on Reddit and it shows the new earbuds in the official Samsung app. The features it has revealed include spatial 3D audio processing which we expect will directly affect a more immersive listening experience. However, the app also reveals that this feature will be available only if the user has a Samsung smartphone with Android 11. Last feature refers to voice detection which would, in practice, automatically turn down the volume when it recognizes that you are speaking to someone.

We still don’t exactly know what the battery life will be of the buds and the charging case, but we expect that the case will offer around 3 charges in addition to the battery that comes with the buds. Based on current knowledge of the buds, there are some features that we can expect even though they have not been included in any of the leaks so far, such as some level of water resistance, USB-C charging port, and hopefully, active noise cancellation.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Design

Thanks to the numerous leaks, there is barely anything left regarding the official design that we don’t know. Starting with the Reddit leak which has revealed a few features, we also found out that the buds will be available in three colors: White, Black, and a light purple model. Based on the images revealed, the buds will have a shiny housing rather than a matt design, and the case color perfectly matches the earbuds. Other than the colors, the shape of both the buds and the charging case is not much different than the previous Galaxy Buds+ model. They will have soft ear tips and we will probably be offered a few different sizes for better comfort and fit.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Price & Launch Date

As mentioned before, the Galaxy Buds Pro are expected to launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series. Even though it was originally thought that the event will happen in the Spring, a few reliable rumour sources indicated that it will indeed take place in January. So far, the most accurate and specific date indicates the 14th of January which does seem plausible, but we will update you as the official event announcement gets released.

Talking about the price, we already have a number in mind thanks to a leak by WalkingCat on Twitter. Not only were some of the features revealed, but the leaker also revealed the comparison between the upcoming Buds Pro and the Buds+ and Buds Live. We now also know the expected price: $199.

UPDATE / 5 January 2021 / Video reveals everything about the buds

With the official release confirmed for the 14th of January 2021, we are excited to see the new Galaxy Buds Pro alongside Samsung’s new flagship smartphone lineup. Despite being so near the launch date, we still get to see new bits and pieces that complete the picture of what the earbuds will be like, and the latest leak includes a YouTube video that revealed basically everything, including a small performance test too.

Digital Slang added a new video on its YouTube platform in which it reviewed a pair of upcoming earbuds that were sold through Facebook Marketplace. The video mostly confirms the rumors that we came across before regarding the design we can expect, as well as most of the features. However, there is one new element that the video showed: sound and mic performance. Digital Slang praises the performance and the crystal clear sound which leads us to believe that the performance will be at least as good as in previous models, if not better, which is already a quite decent level for the price range. The buds are rumored to be sold for around $200 and will be accompanying the Galaxy S21 Series during their launch next Thursday.
