Sennheiser IE 80S BT wireless headphones revealed

Sennheiser is known for its high-end headphones, sometimes even reaching thousands of dollars, but it has been sticking to wired models in order to deliver the best performance possible even though wireless headphones and earbuds were on the rise of popularity. Now, the company released its first-ever high-end wireless headphones, Sennheiser IE 80S BT.

The new headphones are based on the last years wired model IE 80S with minor changes that adjust them for wireless connectivity. They are not truly wireless, but rather feature a neckband and remote control with three buttons that allow you to adjust the volume, playback and also wake Siri or Google Assistant based on the phone connected. The earbuds are designed with an ear hook that will ensure they stay put, and the three material choices for the earbuds ensure they will be comfortable along the way.

The wireless IE 80S model can support several Bluetooth codecs including LHDC, aptX HD, AAC, and even aptX Low Latency. Even though AKM DAC in combination with neodymium magnets offers high-fi performance, you can still adjust the sound based on your preferences through the Sennheiser Smart Control App. The battery can support up to 6 hours of playback time at once, but if it does happen that you can’t recharge them at the moment, you can also switch to a cord and used them as a wireless pair.

The price of the new Sennheiser IE 80S BT wireless earbuds on the company’s website is $499.95, which is a bit more than the wired pair that is sold for $349.99.
