Sony announced a new 9-inch Android Auto receiver

Earlier this month, a mayor Android Auto update was revealed for its users which introduced a newly redesigned interface, easier navigation, and the long-awaited dark mode. But, not all users have cars that support either Android Auto or CarPlay due to the lack of in-car display which is why other companies have to step up in order to make it available for more drivers. Among them is Sony who has just revealed its new Android Auto receiver that will allow users to set up the display on their car dashboard and go on the road with the companion of your choice.

The most prominent feature of the new CarPlay and Android Auto receiver is the giant 8.95-inch screen that can be mounted on the dashboard and allow users to rely on it rather than their smartphone while driving. The big screen means that drivers can easily see everything on the screen, from the media, messages, and navigation which overall improves road safety due to decrease in distractions, or rather focus on the important ones.

The receiver is compatible with both CarPlay and Android Auto which means that users with both iOS and Android phones can connect their device. The display can be adjusted in three different ways, height, depth and tilt, which increases the number of vehicles it can be mounted it. At the bottom are eight buttons that can be used for volume and playback control and voice commands. Finally, if you have a rear-camera installed, it will be shown on the display alongside with guidelines to help you out with parking.

The official release is going to take place sometime in December, right before the holidays, and it will be available on Sony’s website. The price of new CarPlay and Android Auto receiver (XAV-AX8000) is expected to be $599.99 at the launch.
