New AirPods 2 leak suggests Siri activation using voice command

It’s been well over half a year since the whole tech world started talking and speculating on what the new AirPods 2 are going to be like. The original Apple’s AirPods were a hit among Apple users but everyone is in anticipation of what is coming with Apple’s newest pair of truly wireless earbuds. Even though there is no official release date, a few days ago it was revealed by the component supplier that the AirPods 2 are most likely to be released in the next half a year.

Even though the speculations on the new features and design are not confirmed and all of the ideas that are among frequently mentioned ones such as wireless charging case and biometric capabilities might not show up as a part of Apple’s new wireless earbuds, there is one thing that the future users can count on. Based on the release of beta version of iOS 12.2 for developers, a new, currently hidden, feature includes a setup screen used for AirPods configuration that notes that the users will be able to use Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, by saying “Hey, Siri”. This process of configuration would ensure that AirPods will react only on the user’s voice instead of any surrounding voices, but it also means that Siri will be available for assistance only through voice commands even when the connected iPhone is set aside in the pocket. The tapping for Siri activation might be a thing of past.

Based on previous Apple releases and scheduling, there is a chance that the new AirPods 2 might even be released as soon as March but it is not certain yet, although the release date might be connected to the soon-to-come iOS 12.2 update.
