Vizio SmartCast 3 beta is out with Airplay 2 support

Back at CES 2019, Vizio has announced a new version of its SmartCast that would be compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple HomeKit. Now the company has released the beta version of its new update, planning to roll it out officially by the second quarter of 2019. Vizio SmartCast 3.0 users will be able to beam photos, videos, and music from their iPhones, iPads, and Macs to any Vizio TV that features SmartCast 3.0. Users will also be able to mirror content that they can’t cast like web pages or some games to watch it on a bigger screen.

SmartCast 3.0 will also be compatible with Apple HomeKit which means that users will be able to control their smart TVs using voice commands. Using Siri on your iPhone or iPad, you will be able to turn the TV on and off, control the volume level, or even ask Siri to play shows that you already rented or bought on iTunes.

If you already have a Vizio smart TV, you live in the US or Canada, and you would like to try the new update you can sign up for the beta version on Vizio website. In case you are not eligible for those conditions, then you will have to wait until the official update rolls out sometime in the second quarter of 2019.
