Amazon Music HD Tier Offers Lossless Audio

Amazon Music is going to offer a new subscription tier option besides Amazon Unlimited, Amazon Music HD, which will offer its subscribers access to lossless audio files which was not available until now. This is not a new option in the world of music streaming services as Tidal is already offering something similar, but the more affordable price is what Amazon thinks is going to take it higher than its competitors.

Amazon Music HD will offer over 50 million HD songs, as well as several millions of Ultra HD ones, all available in lossless FLAC format. The service is going to be available for $14.99 per month or, in case you are an Amazon Prime user, $12.99. Amazon’s current competitor on this is Tidal who offers its high-fidelity quality audio content for $19.99 per month. The company explained that its main goal is to be accessible to a wider audience which is how it explains its more affordable price point as well. Furthermore, it is hoping to exceed the popularity of Spotify and Amazon Music which are currently two main players in the music streaming service field.

You will be able to enjoy the high definition quality of Amazon Music HD service with the right equipment, even your smartphone if you have a built-in DAC. It will also be compatible with products from certain manufacturers, including Denon, Marantz, Polk Audio, Definite Technology, Sonos, McIntosh, Sennheiser and others. Furthermore, the new Amazon speakers that will be announced very soon are most likely going to be capable of bringing out the best in the lossless audio files the service offers.

Amazon Music HD is available starting today in US, UK, Germany and Japan, with more countries getting added to the list over time. Amazon is offering a 3-month free trial of the new subscription tier.
