BBC releases the new BBC Sounds app

BBC has launched a better and improved replacement for their iPlayer Radio app that has offered its users not only listening to BBC radio but also sharing and overall engaging with the content. It has gone a long way since it was created back in 2012 in attempt to keep up and adapt to younger generations, but unfortunately its time is over now, because of the new BBC’s next step was creating of BBC Sounds app that will take over with improved and more modern features.

The BBC Sounds app pays attention to what your preferences are when it comes to its content, and then offers you personalized recommendations that you might also enjoy. This comes in handy as the app offers hours and hours of content, over 80,000 to be more precise, which would be hard to choose from without a bit of help. Through the app you can listen to content from usual BBC radio to music and even podcasts.

It is available for both Android and iOS making it available to almost anyone. Unfortunately, users will still not be able to download any of the content using the app but it is expected that this feature comes with future updates. And what also gives it a chance to compete with the big known apps such as Spotify or Apple Music is that there are no advertisement. Talking about the design of the BBC Sounds app, it is pretty simple and has, similarly to iPlayer Radio app, white and orange user interface with options such as discover or recommendations, besides the subscriptions, listen later etc.

The BBC Sounds app will coexist with the iPlayer Radio app until next year when it will completely take over. In the meantime, BBC will use user feedback to further improve it for its users. For now it is only available in UK, but as it happened with the iPlayer Radio app, we hope it will be available for the users in other countries some time in the future.
