BenQ GS50 is the first portable smart projector
Portable projectors are now gaining more and more popularity, especially with the rise of smart projectors equipped with Android TV or any other smart TV OS. The BenQ GS50 portable projector is a smart projector that you can take with you everywhere. BenQ claims that this new projector is the world’s first smart portable outdoor projector with 2.1-channel Bluetooth audio.
As a projector, the BenQ GS50 features 1080p resolution, as well as an HDR device with an LED light source that’s capable of producing a 500 ANSI-lumens output for up to 30,000 hours. There’s also a 2.1 channel Bluetooth sound system, and 16GB of internal storage that users can use to store movies and TV shows.
The 2.1 channel sound system is designed by BenQ’s treVolo audio team and consists of high and mid-range drivers positioned into the sides and rear of the projector, accompanied by a separate woofer for rich bass.
The BenQ GS50 offers up to two hours of battery life off a single charge which is long enough to watch most movies. It’s also IPX2-certified which means that it’s splash resistant and can handle a few drops of rain.
The new portable projector measures 154 x 186 x 146mm making it small enough to fit in a small bag and travel with you. It is also very easy to set up outdoors.

While portable projectors are still improving with every new product out there. The GS50 is certainly one of the best. However, the 2 hours battery life seems a bit short as there are quite a few movies that last longer than 2 hours.
The BenQ GS50 portable projector is available for pre-order now and shipping starts in October. It is priced at $799.
