Chord Launches Gofigure App For iOS Devices

 

Just a few days after announcing a firmware update for the Poly, Chord has now finally launched their much-anticipated Gofigure app for iOS devices. But sadly, no, there doesn’t seem to be any support for non-iOS devices as of yet.

What is Gofigure?

In case you missed it, the Gofigure app was created as a means to give Poly users a more convenient method of access the devices various configurations and playback modes. Without the app, one would need to use the configuration pin to gain access.

You see, a Poly+Mojo combo is a fully-fledged personal and portable DAP, but without a display there’s no easy-to-use user interface as you’d find on the vast majority of DAPs out there. It’s somewhat similar in operation as a Walnut V2s, but the Poly+Mojo combo doesn’t even have any dedicated playback control buttons.
Instead, that operational function is done entirely from a connected smartphone and compatible DLNA or MPD app (such as BubbleUPnP, Glider or 8 PLAYER) over WiFi (whether that be from your phone’s personal hotspot, or via an established home WiFi network). Here the combo works similarly in principle to how Hiby Link works on various Shanling,Hidizs and Cayin devices (and, of course, Hiby’s own DAPs), but just over a WiFi network rather than over Bluetooth.

The Gofigure app operates over Bluetooth, and also allows you to perform firmware upgrades and monitor available space on the storage card, along with being able to view some other information. There’s also a new feature called QuickPlay which allows convenient playback of MPD generated playlists stored on the microSD card inserted in the Poly. This does not and cannot entirely replace third-party playback control apps, but rather it’s intended to allow the Poly+Mojo combo to playback music without needing further user interaction.

However, in order to be able to use Gofigure, users must update their Poly(s) to the recently announced firmware update version 1.0.26 first.
