Spotify car music player, might be the first hardware from Spotify

Earlier this month, many Spotify users reported them receiving an offer from Spotify to pre-order a hardware device from Spotify, which is a car music player that would allow drivers to control Spotify by their voice. The offer said that the monthly subscription for both Spotify streaming service and the new device would be $12.99, and that’s only in case you accept the offer for a year which makes it $155 a year in total. In another story, some users said that the price was $14.99 and that it was announced that Amazon Alexa will be supported in the new device. In any case, all this offers and ads were shown only once, which means that maybe they were sent earlier than what was planned by mistake.

The device would be in a circular shape, with some buttons to control the sound and the music, also there will be a surrounding LED Spotify green light. The Swedish company already announced that there will be a press event in the 24th of April in New York City, but there is no news if Spotify’s first hardware device would be announced in the upcoming event.

Spotify invitation

When asked about the new device on Spotify support forum, the admins of the blog answered with their typical answer, “We’re always testing things to improve Spotify,” one admin continues saying, “Right now we don’t have any news on this, but we’ve let the right team know it’s something you’d like to see,”. To be honest, Spotify is always working to improve its users’ experience, for example, they’ve been working on their own voice assistant lately. It seems so logical that the company would launch its own hardware, just like Apple did when launching the new Homepod.

Right now, all that we can do is to wait until the 24th of April, maybe Spotify would give us some more information.
