Google Pixel 5: Everything You Need To Know

Google has held its “Google Night In” event today and revealed quite a few new products, including a new Nest Audio smart speaker, new Chromecast, as well as the new Pixel smartphones. The new Pixel 5 offers smoother and faster performance, improved security, as well as the awaited 5G network that is supposed to improve your day-to-day communication and media usage. Here is everything you need to know about Google’s new flagship.

Pixel 5 is as sleek as any other Google smartphone, with a matte finish combined with shiny side buttons and the logo on the back. The aluminum housing is also water-resistant with an IPX8 rating, meaning you don’t have to worry about any damages if you accidentally spill something on it or use it under the rain. On the back, there is also a fingerprint reader, a very standard move on Google’s side.

One of the most advertised features about the new Pixel is the 5G connectivity which would in practice improve many actions you can take online, from downloading movies and music or playing games on Google Stadia, to making video calls using Duo or other platforms. And you can see all of that on the beautiful 6-inch full HD+ OLED Smooth Display.

When it comes to internals, you can expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765GB processor, 8GB of RAM, as well as 128GB of internal storage but you do get 3 months for free of Google One which offers you 100GB of cloud storage. The device is going to launch officially with the new Android 11 OS. Pixel 5 has a 4080mAh battery capacity and not only offers you wireless charging capabilities but also reverse wireless charging which allows you to use the smartphone to charge other devices such as smartwatches or even your Pixel Buds. And, of course, it has a USB-C charging port.

When it comes to cameras, Google Pixel 5 has a dual-camera setup on the back in square housing tucked in the top left corner with a 12MP dual-pixel lens and a 16MP ultrawide one. The front punch-hole camera has 8MP lens and is located in the top left corner. Of course, there are quite a few features we can mention when it comes to Pixel’s camera, including Night Sight, Top Shot, Cinematic Pan, Portrait Light, and more.

Of course, there is also the full integration of Google Assistant capabilities and features, old and new ones. From now, Google Assistant will be able to filter out any fake or robocalls even before your phone rings. Furthermore, with the Hold for Me feature, Assistant will stay on hold for you and then let you know when it is your turn to speak.

Google Pixel 5 is already available for pre-order in Google Store, with two colors that we already seen in many leaks: Sorta Sage green option, and Just Black option. The price is set at $699, and the device is going to officially launch on the 15th of October.
