Google Recorder Will Transcribe In Real Time
Google Hardware event wasn’t only about hardware, the tech giant finally decided to put their speech-to-text technology, speech recognition, and AI algorithms into one simple app, Google Recorder. A recording app that will automatically transcribe recordings as the person is speaking. This app will allow users to get better use of their recording app on their smartphones, and it can all be offline as the transcribing process happen directly on the device.
“This means you can transcribe meetings, lectures, interviews, or anything you want to save,” said Sabrina Ellis, VP of Product Management at Google.
We have seen a demonstration of the Google Recorder app during the Google event. The app worked perfectly. The problem with such apps is usually the background noise as they all fail to offer an accurate transcription. But what we have seen on stage can be different in real life or in a much noisier environment.
The app is only available in English right now, but Google said that more languages will be supported soon.

Although Google has been developing its voice processing and real-time transcriptions and advancing in this field, such apps exist already. The Recorder app will create a strong competition for apps such as Otter.ai, Reason8, and Trint which is also researched by Google.
Google introduced the app as a new feature in the new Pixel 4 smartphone and didn’t announce whether this app will be available for other devices or not. So for now, Pixel users will enjoy this great technology.
