Heari: headphones that create personalized audio

A group of engineers and audio specialist got together in Hong Kong and in 2015 created their first Aumeo headphones personaliser, but now, 3 years later they have created Heari Audio and their new specialised Heari headphones. These wireless headphones differ from other on the market as they are made to be much more personalised to each person’s hearing sensitivities in order to bring you the best audio quality. It uses the Aumeo specialised technology that takes your hearing to its full potential, allowing you to fully enjoy your music.

Heari headphones take in consideration that each person’s hearing is different from the other, and that creating one universal headphones might not be as effective in bringing the optimal audio quality to you. Even both of your ears are different from one another. The technology behind Heari tailors audio to 97% accuracy and creates your audio profile through which each sound is transferred in order to create the one best fitted for your ears. One of the main features is the Tailored Audio Transparency which processes real time sounds from the surrounding through your unique hearing profile and enhances them.

The way you create your audio profile for Heari headphones is through the Heari app. By doing a short test, your ear sensitivities are determined to create optimal hearing experience. Besides this, you can also adjust songs though the app, meaning if you are exercising and you like to run to a beat, you can emphasize the bass or you also have an option to boost voice in some of your favourite songs that give you chills. You can connect to the Heari headphones using Bluetooth 4.1.

The headphones have 3 microphones, one in-line with control unit using which you can adjust volume, song track and call, second for all frontal sounds and finally the third one that is all-around microphone that gathers background noises. The neck band also has a button that switched audio transparency mode on and off to your liking. The Heari headphones are designed so that you can choose between single driver with rich full sound or a dual dynamic and balanced armature driver with an improved clarity regarding the audio.

Talking about the battery life of these headphones, they can last you almost all day with at least 10 hours of use after which they need only 2 hours to be fully charged. They use micro USB port located on the side of the neckband. Additionally, even though they cannot be used as substitution for hearing aids, they do improve audio experience that will help you if you have to lower volume while listening to TV, hearing someone talk to you from distance and just simple hear your favourite music with clarity.

Regarding the design of the Heari headphones, they are wireless with a neckband piece that is very bendable so it gently lays on your neck. The earbuds are MMCX compatible meaning that with potential future designs by Heari Audio, you would be able to easily swap them out. The ear tips itself are made out of foam so that they adjust to your ear and are very comfortable to stay in with very light and non-intrusive feeling. Headphones come only in black color so far, but we can hope for more different designs in the future.

The Heari headphones are available on crowdfunding website Kickstarter with a variety of tiers you can choose from: Gold Edition Heari with dual drivers and MMCX swappable earbuds, Silver Edition Heari with single driver and MMCX swappable earbuds and finally Bronze edition Heari headphones with single driver and integrated earbuds. You can also choose between Early Bird offer that goes from $119-$205, and Super Early Bird offer from $99-$179.
