JVC Introduces SU-ARX01BT Bluetooth MMCX Cable

JVC is no stranger to the world of audio. They’ve produced numerous headphones, IEMs, and portable speakers, along with a huge variety of other electronic devices including automotive audio products like head-units, speakers and amplifiers. One of their latest products in the personal audio field is the SU-ARX01BT.

What is it?

Essentially, the SU-ARX01BT is a neck-band style product that allows you to turn any IEMs into a wireless set, provided that they have removable MMCX cables, of course.

What’s interesting is that a few weeks ago Fiio posted the below picture on Head-Fi, clearly showing some or other Bluetooth enable MMCX cable hooked up to one of their IEMs. Whilst it isn’t quite the same kind of neck-band style product as the JVC, it’ll be interesting to see how the 2 compare.

Features and Technology

It seems the SU-ARX01BT will have convenient NFC pairing built into the device, making pairing with another NFC-equipped smartphone rather simple.
JVC boasts that the SU-ARX01BT has “K2 Technology”, which they claim allows the device to playback music wirelessly in high quality equivalent to high res. As stated on the product page (translated via Chrome):

“K2 TECHNOLOGY “original high-quality sound technology” K2 TECHNOLOGY “which reproduces the original sound faithfully by regenerating the music information lost by the digital sound source conversion and compression processing by the wave correction processing was optimized for Bluetooth ® wireless technology. By expanding the processing range to a lower frequency band than before, it performs highly accurate waveform correction processing and outputs it as a high-resolution equivalent (192 kHz / 24 bit format) music signal. I realized high sound quality approaching the wired while wireless.”

Ok, so the translation does seem a little dodgy, but the gist of it is that JVC’s K2 technology can get wireless audio up to the standard of 192kHz/24-bit. That’s a pretty darn bold claim to make, especially considering that we’re talking about Bluetooth wireless technology here, not Wi-Fi or any other high bandwidth radio transmission.

Specs

According to this official JVC site, the SU-ARX01BT features Bluetooth version 4.2, and fully supports the AptX and AAC protocols. however, no mention of AptX HD was seen. Battery life has been stated to be approximately 7 hours (depending on usage, as usual), whilst charging takes around 2 hours.

There doesn’t seem to be an official word on pricing yet, although this online store does have it for the equivalent of around $210.
