AirPods 2 Might Be Getting New Competitor: Microsoft Surface Buds

Biggest tech brands are recently introducing their go-to wireless earbuds. First, it was Apple with its long-awaited AirPods 2 which was quickly followed by Beats Powerbeats Pro. Soon, it was rumored that Amazon is preparing its own competitor earbuds. Now, Microsoft is joining in with what is expected to be its new Microsoft Surface buds.

The new earbuds will be apart of the Surface brand revealed last year which currently features laptops and one pair of Surface over the ear headphones, as well as a couple of accessories including Surface Pen and Mobile Mouse. The Surface buds have a code name “Morrison”, possibly related to Jim Morrison from the Doors, and are expected to be in-ear and truly wireless.

It is not really known what the new earbuds will be like and what is going to make them different from AirPods 2 or Powerbeats Pro. Based on what Microsoft’s over the ear headphones offer, we can expect integration with Cortana, the company’s voice assistant, or even Amazon’s Alexa. They are probably going to offer noise cancellation and an improved connection between the phone and earbuds which will make reading content on the phone easier, but we can’t be sure yet what that might be.

The release date and price are still not available but considering how fast AirPods 2 competitors are emerging, there is a chance we might see Microsoft Surface buds before the end of this year, but it is not known definitely.
