Okja The movie Brings Dolby Atmos Technology to Netflix (3D Audio)

Netflix has received a huge update. For the first time, the platform supports Dolby Atmos surround sound technology, also known as “3D surround-sound” technology, which is used in cinema theaters around the world, offers a 3D audio experience while watching movies at home.

Okja is the first movie to be launched on the Netflix platform and supports Dolby Atmos sound technology and is now available for watching for Netflix users. Other new movies are expected to be released to support this technology in an effort to get cinema experience in your living room.

Dolby Atmos On Netflix

This audio technology extends the volume to higher levels than the 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup, adds other dimensions to many different setups to produce 3d surrounded sound,  and adjusts the sound automatically to make the surround effect feels better. also works with headphones like Astro A50 Wireless Gaming

“The technology takes two-dimensional sound, expands the dimensions, adds a third dimension to the sound, provides rich audio depth with better direction in movie scenes, ” said the movie director “Bong Joon Ho’s”.

New Movies are coming

Netflix has revealed other films that will be released soon with Dolby Atmos and 4K HDR resolution. To date, the Xbox one and Xbox S are the only devices to support Dolby Atmos on Netflix. However, the new LG Wallpaper Oled TV has been launched with support for the technology and will be Other supported devices soon.

Coming soon Movies with 3D surround Audio technology are:

  • BLAME! (28th July),
  • Death Note (25th August),
  • Bright (December) and Wheelman (tbc).
