OnePlus 8T: Everything You Need To Know

After months of rumors and expectations and following the unexpected OnePlus Nord, OnePlus has finally announced the T model of its latest flagship 8 Series. The new OnePlus 8T comes as a standalone device in the series and unlike the previous few generations, it won’t be accompanied by a Pro model. What are the upgrades and new features? Did the design change? Here is everything you need to know about the new OnePlus smartphone.  Overall, the design of the new OnePlus 8T did not change drastically, but there are a few changes that make the device look even sleeker than before, including the rounded edges and corners. The smartphone is going to be available in two color options: Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver, both of which have a white OnePlus logo on the back. The front is what brings the biggest change, with a 6.55 inches Fluid AMOLED display with HDR 10+. The bezels are very minimal, making the actual viewing display even larger in comparison, which is further supported by a punch hole rather than bezel front camera setup.  When it comes to internals, there is quite a lot to cover. Starting with the processor, 8T features Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset that further supports 5G connectivity which is combined with the recently announced Fluid Display with 120Hz refresh rate for even lower latency. Just imagine the fast yet smooth gaming experience, even during online games. Furthermore, it features improved haptics 2.0, full 3D Dolby Atmos support, and new Gaming Tools which will improve your gameplay and make it even more convenient to share on social media. Finally, the battery. With a large display and 5G, large battery capacity is necessary which is why the new 8T features a 4,500 mAh one. But, this is further accompanied by the latest and fastest charging solution: Warp Charge 65 which would basically offer you almost a day’s worth of battery in just 15 minutes. And the best part of it is that you can use it to fast charge other devices too, from the new OnePlus Buds and even to Nintendo Switch. The device will run OxygenOS 11 (OnePlus’ native Android 11) straight out of the box, and introduces for the first time Always On Display which gives you a preview of your notifications even when your phone is asleep through a customizable dark display. The camera setup on the new OnePlus 8T is quite complex, with a rectangular quad camera setup on the back with 4 lenses and 2 sensors. The lenses include a 123-degree 16MP Ultra Wide, 48 MP Main lens, and a Macro and Monochrome lens. On top of this, there are also different modes that you can rely on to further improve the quality of your photographs and videos, including the Nightscape mode for low-light shots. 8T also focuses on shooting and editing the videos directly on the device with 4K video quality at 60fps and Super Stable feature that allows you to shoot cinematic shots. Finally, we need to mention the front camera that is located on the front right corner and features a 16MP lens assisted by Electronic Image Stabilization for even cleaner photos and videos.  OnePlus 8T is available for pre-order starting today until the 21st of October 2020. For the first time in quite a while, there is only one option to choose from when it comes to the capacity: 12GB of RAM combined with 256GB of internal storage, which will set you at $749.
