Sonos announced limited edition Play:5 Beastie Boys speaker

This is not the first time Sonos has released a limited edition of one of their speakers, but it was more often based on its Play:1 speaker. This time, Sonos announced limited edition Play:5 Beastie Boys speaker, intended to collect money for charities that work on expanding access to education and music in the US and Africa.

Beastie Boys edition of Play:5 speaker still has all the features like the original speaker, just different grill design which is now white with red letters that read the bands name. The artist that stands behind the speaker design is Barry McGee.

“The speaker has a pretty contemporary and clean design, so I used a pattern that disrupts the front of the speaker, but still complements it.”

As the speaker holds the same features as Play:5, here is what is expected from the Beastie Boys edition. Besides being able to play music over WiFi, there is also the option of plugging in any audio device in order to play music. It has intuitive touch control panel on top that allows volume and track control. It is meant to be placed in any direction, even vertical on a side which means it can fit in any room, even the kitchen or bathroom as it is resistant to humidity. With three mid-woofers and tweeters each and a digital amplifier, the audio performance is pure with deep bass.

Sonos Play:5 Beastie Boys speaker is going to be available later this year in December. The price will be the same as the original Play:5 so you can pick it up from the company’s website for $499.
