Sony joins the Smart Speakers war with LF-S50G

Finally, it’s Sony’s turn to launch its weapon in the fight of Wireless Smart Speakers in the battle of IFA 2017 held in Berlin, Germany.

A number of Smart Speakers supported by personal assistances such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant has been introduced during the conference, the last one was Onkyo’s:

And now it’s Sony’s time to introduce LF-S50G as its new smart wireless speaker.

The new LF-S50G by Sony is supported by Google Assistant, with its ability to communicate by three techniques:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • Near Field Communication – NFC

The company also added a special feature for those who are tired of saying “OK Google” to allow them to activate the speaker by waving their hands over it.

In addition to the ability of turning it on, they can also move back and forth and skip tracks by waving the hand to the left and to the right.

The LF-S50G cam also communicate with Sony products supported by Google Chromecast to stream music through it at home or anywhere.

As we recently used to from Sony products, the headset follows its latest phones in being a waterproof and splash proof headset as it’s IPX3 rated.

The headset will be available in black and white in UK and in blue as the third choice in the United States. It has a distinctive cylindrical design with a chrome base.

As for the price and the availability date, the headset will be available for us in November for £ 200.
