Amazon adds a number of paid subscription channels to its video platform

Amazon Video platform got upgraded to include paid channels in its service. Now you can expect to find the likes of ITV, Discovery and more in the list of supported channels.

The new addition comes with over 40 TV channels that are normally separately subscribed, according to The Guardian. However, you still need to pay that extra money on top of the usual $8.25 each month, as channels will vary with their fees ranging from $2 all the way up to $10 a month.

ITV’s live TV, for example, will cost you near $5 monthly with no ads included. Discovery, however, comes a little more expensive at about $6 and a bit for one month. The addition to Amazon Video isn’t only about channels, it also includes movies from BFI and MGM film studios, like The Hobbit and so on. What’s confusing is why there still is no Channel 4, 5 or BBC yet despite the obvious chance here.

Whether subscribers will be ready to pay extra for those channels is yet to be seen, but the added catalog is surely beneficial for Amazon against other competing streaming services such as Netflix and Sky.
